BRIAN PATRICK CALLAHAN, born November 12, 1952, New Haven, Conn; died, November 28, 2022 in Bridgeview, IL.
Brian Callahan was the devoted son of the late Margaret D. and John F. Callahan. Beloved brother, uncle, and great uncle, Brian grew up in New Haven, graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1970, received a Bachelor's degree in history from Quinnipiac College in 1974 and a Master's degree in history in 1975 from the University of Connecticut. He is survived by a brother, John F. Callahan of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Mary Ellen Creighton (the late Robert) and Peggy Callahan of Chicago; a nephew, Robert Creighton (Kathy) of Warrensburg, Mo.; two nieces, Eve Callahan (Scott K. O. Taylor) of Portland and Sasha Callahan (Leo Eguchi) of Jamaica Plain, Mass, and two grand nieces, Ava Taylor and Freya Eguchi, each girl the apple of his eye. Brian was a lifelong lover of books, especially history and biography, movies from which he had a maddening ability to remember word for word long passages of dialogue, and conversation to which he added wry commentary. He moved to Oak Lawn, Il. in 1992 wearing his Phillies baseball cap, which he wore to Cubs games with his sisters, and removed only during the 7th inning stretch. Brian was a shy man, a kind man, always looking out for the "other person." Fittingly, he spent the day of his death ringing bells for the Salvation Army. In words Chaucer wrote about his knight in the Canterbury Tales, Brian Callahan "was a verray, parfit, gentil knyght,"
