Daniel Malhiot, 42, of River Forest, IL, passed away suddenly on January 15, 2022. Dan or Danny, as he was known to his family and friends, was born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, and lived there for most of his life.
Anyone who knew Dan, knew he was a lifelong fan of baseball and especially the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed playing in the local Oak Park league as a kid and eventually became a coach for several years.
In his late teens, Dan developed a passion for weight lifting. And for 25 years, he studied and practiced it, even when fighting physical limitations due to multiple sclerosis in more recent years. He felt at home in the gym and easily made friends there.
Beneath a strong and tough exterior, he was known to his family friends as a fun-loving guy with a kind heart, always there to listen and impart advice to a friend.
Dan is survived by his children, Lindsey (Phil Duncan) and Dylan Malhiot; his parents Kathryn Sanderlin and Robert Malhiot; and brothers Jonathan (Julie Malhiot) and Alex Malhiot (Andy Smith); his nephew and niece, Brayden and Mackenzie Malhiot; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dan was a loving and proud father. Lindsey and Dylan were his heart and nothing was more precious to him.
A memorial service will be held in the spring or summer.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: https://www.nationalmssociety.org.
