Dorothy Eloise (Scott) Golembiecki, 98, passed away on April 12, 2022.
Dorothy was born July 6, 1923 to Harry and Cleown Scott of Elkins, West Virginia. She graduated from Davis and Elkins College where she majored in Chemistry.
She married Sgt. Chester I. Golembiecki in 1944 shortly before he was shipped out to Europe in WWII. They were married for over 56 years.
Dorothy had a strong work ethic. In addition to raising seven children, she worked until the age of 83. She always considered those she worked with as part of the family.
Dorothy loved playing the piano, and her grand piano moved with her for many years. She also loved to entertain and feed her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She would bake cookies and sweets for weeks before Christmas to share with family, friends, and neighbors. Dorothy enjoyed reading both novels and non-fiction.
Mrs. Golembiecki was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, her son, Tom, and her two brothers. She is survived by her children, Connie (Harold) Bernt, Bonnie Boerger, Eileen (Ron) Will, Scott Golembiecki, Judy (Richard) Barnard, and John Golembiecki, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was always a very generous giver. Along with her husband and other Proviso area residents in 1960, she successfully helped create the organization PARC, now known as ASPIRE, for developmentally disabled adults.
Memorial contributions may be made to ASPIRE, 4100 Litt Drive, Hillside, IL 60152
