Edith M. Ogden nee Czarczynski, 94, of Oak Park, IL passed away peacefully on February 23, 2020 under hospice care at home. She is survived by her son Noel and daughter Kim. Edith was born in Buffalo, NY and realized at an early age that she had acrobatic abilities, could do contortion -like movements and was very flexible. She even appeared in Ripley's "Believe it or Not". At the age of 18 she moved to New York City and did some performing there until being called by the USO to join them and do shows in the South Pacific, where she did dancing and acrobatic work for the US Troops. While in the USO she had the pleasure of meeting many celebrities including Bob Hope, Burns and Allen and Nat King Cole. It was at this time she met a handsome saxophone player named Julius Ogden who played in the Army band, and the two fell in love, got married and quit show business to start a family in New Jersey. After the passing of her husband in 2003, she moved to Oak Park to be closer to her children. She has a kind heart and would always help the homeless when she could. She enjoyed theater and going on outings with the Forest Park Community Center from time to time. Info. 708-366-2200 or www.ZimmermanHarnett.com.
