Elisa Bala Dimalanta, affectionately known as Lisa, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Elgin, Illinois. Lisa was born on October 26, 1948, in Zamboanga, Philippines. She lived a life of devotion, compassion, and zest that touched everyone she met.
In 1966, Lisa earned a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. In 1968, she traveled to Frankfurt, Germany, where she began her career in healthcare and married Rene Dimalanta. She then moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1978. She dedicated her career to healthcare, serving with unwavering commitment at Resurrection Hospital, Loretto Hospital, and Sacred Heart Hospital in Chicago. Her colleagues will remember her as a passionate and comedic professional.
Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. Lisa found joy in playing the piano, singing, and praying the rosary. She also enjoyed shopping, dining, traveling, and literature, and had a talent for writing.
Lisa was the loving mother of Abigail (Ben) Hamilton and Alvin (Claudia) Dimalanta, and the cherished grandmother of Emma, Gavin, and Grace. She was once married to Rene Dimalanta. Her siblings, Josephine (Ray) Parrilla, Linda (Rudy) Almendras, Eva, and Jose Bala, will remember Lisa as a sister who brought laughter and love into their lives.
Lisa's passionate spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated, as she has left an indelible mark through her kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. She will be profoundly missed, but the memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew her.
