Evelyn (Waters) Simonetta

Meta Evelyn Simonetta, 84, resident of Forest Park, Illinois, passed away on May 3, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Dominic “Mickey” Simonetta for 54 years; loving mother of Anthony (Nicki), Johnny, and Mariann (Chris) Beach; devoted ‘Nana’ to Richard (Lauren), Dominic (Brittany), Katie Beach, Cristiano, and Kelly Beach; proud great-grandmother to Viviana, Luca & Angelo. She was a fond aunt and cousin to many.

She was predeceased by her parents, Willard and Annie (nee Henry), her sisters, Maye (Lebern) Henry and Faye (Charles) Carter.

Evelyn was a selfless woman who always put family first. The love she had for her ‘darling’ husband Mickey proved the unbreakable bond they shared for over five decades. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was also a second mother to the many friends of her own children offering kindness, support and guidance when needed. She never had a bad word to say about anyone.

She had many interests in life. She enjoyed music, cooking, mastering generations of southern Italian family recipes passed down from her father-in-law to the recipes from her own mother. She appreciated gardens, flowers and bird watching over her many years. She never missed her favorite programs. Evelyn was an avid reader and was a patron of the Forest Park Library. She supported many local businesses in Forest Park and River Forest and along with her husband Dominic, those that were fortunate to meet them became friends. They inspired smiles wherever they went. Celebrating with her family brought her the most joy.

Her neighbors throughout the years would remark that their interactions would be the highlight of their day. No matter what life threw her way, she always found the positives in every situation. Her doctors/care team and all who assisted her in her battle were moved by her quiet strength and caring nature. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13 from 3-7 pm at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home (7319 Madison St, Forest Park, IL 60130) with a prayer service to follow. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Forest Park Library and the American Cancer Society.
