Florence M. Lakey

Florence Morvan Lakey, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at The Sheridan of River Forest in River Forest, Illinois. She was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island on November 26th, 1928, the daughter of Diana Duguay Morvan and Leo Morvan. 

Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Russell Charles Lakey. Florence and Russell met and married in Rhode Island and then settled in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1955,where they remained for twenty-three years until they moved to Wausau, Wisconsin in 1975.

Florence Is survived by her children Paul (Marjorie), Janice (Ken), Scott, Laurie, Todd (Sandi), five grandchildren (Aaron (Chris), Alison (Carl), Andrea, Kieran and Alissa) and five great-grandchildren (Skylar, Tristan, Charlie, Harper and Nicholas), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Florence enjoyed reading, listening to music, bird watching and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed for her kindness, sweet nature and warm, genuinesmile.  She was an amazing and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, wife and friend. Florence had a gift for making people feel special and touched many hearts throughout her life, including during her short stay in her assisted living facility where she received wonderful care and was loved.

Florence discovered her musical groove over the past couple of years and enjoyed listening and moving (a bit) to Reggae, Latin, Rhythm and Blues and B.B. King. So, please have a dance in her memory.
