Frank M. Young

Frank M. Young, age 97, of River Forest, IL, passed away peacefully at home on May 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 1, 1929, in Chicago, Frank was the son of F. Mortimer Young and Irene Hyde. A lifelong Chicagoan, he built a remarkable life grounded in devotion; to his family, to the CPA firm he founded in 1970, and to the many interests that kept his mind curious and his spirit full. Whether immersed in his work, exploring new ideas, or pursuing his hobbies, Frank approached everything with quiet determination and a generous heart.

Known for his warmth, calm presence, and steady compassion, Frank had a gift for making others feel valued and cared for. His gentle humor, thoughtful nature, and enduring kindness left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan Ulveling Young; his children Steve, Ken (Susan), Michael (Fei), Laura, and Jenny (Matt) McNichols; Carolyn, a dear member of the family; and his cherished grandchildren Jake, Ashley, Hailey, Grace, Audrey, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mortimer and Irene, and his sister Betty.

Above all else, Frank was a devoted husband and father. His love for accounting, writing, lifelong learning, and his drawings and art, was deep and enduring, but it was his love for his family that defined him most. They were his greatest joy and his proudest legacy.

Visitation is Saturday (May 16) from 10:00-11:00am at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7600 Lake St., River Forest where a Mass will be held at 11:00am. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
