Fred August Fischer, 77, of Harwood Heights passed away on September 19, 2024 at Loyola Outpatient center, Maywood, IL. He is survived by his loving partner of 26 years, Rachel Homyk; his children, Dellann Fischer, Paula (Tim) Cohen (née DePolo), Joseph DePolo (Amanda – née Molina) and Natale Fischer; his seven grandchildren, Kendall, Alex, and James Cohen and Julien, Gino, Raina, and Elaine DePolo; one great-grandchild on the way; and his niece, Aimee (David) Tanking. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Martha and Fred Fischer, and his brothers, Ron and Roger Fischer. Born on June 3, 1947 in Berwyn, Il, he grew up in Chicago, Park Ridge, and DesPlaines. He worked as a driver and mechanic by profession, even working his way up to manager for DesPlaines Yamaha. He was an avid fisherman, a hobby inventor, and was such a car buff that there was always a car he was fixing up. Services will be held Sunday, September 22nd at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 Madison Street, Forest Park, Il. Visitation from 12:30PM to 3:30PM will be followed by a memorial service. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
