Gordon “Gordy” Knutson, passed away on April 5, 2021 at the age of 82 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. Gordy is survived by his wife, Luise, sons Randal Knutson (Michele), Curt Knutson and Erec Fink (Anna) as well as 7 grandchildren, Connor, Casey, Reilly, Megan, Colin, Max and Sam. Gordy touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, during his time spent as a professor at both Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH and at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. Gordy spent many years traveling the world with college students and taught history along the way. He is fondly remembered by so many as an amazing educator, wonderful man and kind soul. Gordy lived the life of his dreams and traveled the world until just a few years ago, all the while carrying with him his 70-lb backpack. In the states, you could find Gordy enjoying time at his cabin in northern Michigan, sipping a diet soda and teaching his grandkids how to fish. Gordy will be missed by us all but the impact and legacy he leaves reaches all corners of the world. A memorial will be planned in his honor at a later date. Details will be forthcoming.
