Irv Rock died peacefully on October 4 following a brief illness. He was born in Hartford Connecticut, and received Bachelor’s degrees in engineering (Yale) and journalism (University of Michigan). He served in the Navy during WWII, but the war ended before he was shipped out. Irv married Anne in 1950 and they enjoyed 65 devoted years together. His job in Detroit for Chrysler paid the bills, but his true passions included writing, sailing, skiing, biking, and many ways of artistic expression. Irv leaves behind a legacy of love, intelligence, loyalty, and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his wife (2015) and his son John (1973). He is survived by his daughter Laurie (Swanson), grandchildren Jae, Amy and Kevin, and nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held at a future date.
