Jacqueline “Jackie” Riedl, age 90, of Oak Park, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. She was born December 12, 1935, in Lewiston, Maine, to Rosario and Lauretta Dionne.
Jackie grew up in Lewiston with her sisters Monique (deceased) and Diane. As a young woman she met her husband, Ronald ‘Ron’ Riedl, a navy serviceman while at a dance. After moving to the Chicago area, they were married on February 15, 1957 and remained together for 59 years. They raised their 4 daughters in a home in Oak Park where they lived for nearly 50 years. Jackie’s employment consisted of retail work in a variety of roles before retiring to care for Ron as he battled Parkinson’s disease. Her love and commitment to his comfort and care was evident during this time.
Jackie was a deeply faithful Catholic. As a member of St. Bernardine Church she enjoyed volunteering in number of areas from crocheting blankets for donation to assisting with bingo. She shared a strong bond with a close circle of friends lasting many years. While living at Brookdale Senior Living, she enjoyed greeting and welcoming new residents. She was an avid reader, sewer and quilter. In later years, she enjoyed exploring beyond her neighborhood by car and long walks.
Jackie is survived by four daughters: Susan Riedl; Nancy (John) Gliori; Renee (Robert) Bormann; and Karen (Paul) Newsom. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren: Ruth Riedl, Joe Gliori, Nathan Gliori, Amy Bormann, Elizabeth Bormann, Eli Bormann, Rena Bormann, and Grace Newsom and great-grandmother to Stella Gliori and Piper Kruse. Jackie’s legacy is one of respect and commitment. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on February 28 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Zimmerman - Hartnett Funeral Home 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park, Illinois.where a Service will be held at 11:00am. Interment private.
