Jim McGreevy, 74, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at his home in Oak Park. Jim was born August 8, 1949 in Oak Park to the late Alan McGreevy and Marilyn Mcguinn McGreevy Tyznik. Left to cherish the memory of Jim is his loving life partner of 52 years, Bette Wojta: sister Judith and brother in law Bob Steed; nieces Bridget and Kathryn Steed and numerous friends.
Jim graduated from St. Giles grammar school, and went on to attend Quigley North in Chicago with an additional year at Oak Park/River Forest High School. He spent several years in the US Coast Guard at Yorktown VA, Cape May NJ, and Port Huron MI. Jim later graduated from UWOshkosh with a degree in Journalism. He relocated to Oak Park working as a successful broadcast and television producer at JTC, then for a famous well known TV program for 14 years.
Bette and Jim enjoyed many yearly European and US trips over the years, particularly loving Britain and Maui.
Jim was a very talented musical artist. He enjoyed movies and music, singing and playing self taught guitar for weddings, gatherings, etc. He also enjoyed going to the lake with Bette. He volunteered at the Red Door Animal Shelter and the Chicago Houserabbit Society.
Memorial Visitation Saturday, Nov. 4th, 10:00am -11:00am at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park, IL where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am.
