Lawrence A. Juracic, 92, of Oak Park formerly of Chicago. Beloved husband of the late Eunice A. nee Nickel. Loving father of Marianne (Steven) Carlson, Eileen Carraher, Carol (Joseph) Segobiano and David L. Juracic. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Alison, Megan, Katie, Lucas, Isabel, Ryan and Emma. Dear brother of Elaine (Tom) Stockwell. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was endeared and loved by his wife Eunice for 49 years before her passing in 2009, father of four children and grandfather of eight grandchildren. Even though he was born and raised just blocks of Wrigley Field in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, he was a very loyal and die-hard Chicago White Sox Fan. He loved his Sox and ensured his son would follow in his footsteps. Larry was a good friend to many who cherished having a beer or bourbon with you while telling a joke, a story, or just talking sports. He was a loyal brother to eight siblings and survived by one sister, Elaine Stockwell. He served our Country as a Soldier in the Army in the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan where he was fortunate to play football. Larry was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and then received his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s in Winona, MN where he also played football. He was a devoted Catholic and sixty-year parishioner of St. Bernardines Church; never missed a Sunday Mass. Larry loved his White Sox and watched them daily and enjoyed going to the Ball Park with family and friends. He was fortunate to see the 1963 NFL Championship game in Wrigley Field watching the Chicago Bears beat the NY Giants. Larry had a long successful career as a Salesman and then found fulfillment as a Business Leader in the Meat Packing Industry providing corned beef, roast beef and corned beef hash to the market. He was a life-long Chicagoan and Oak Park resident who cherished his Croatian and Polish heritage. Most importantly he loved spending time with family and friends, whether at a social gathering, family home or at his cottage in Galena, IL.
