Margaret Lundeen Obituary

Margaret Lundeen, a 39 year Oak Park resident, died peacefully, in her home on June 29, 2012. She was a longtime member of St. Catherine-St. Lucy Parish. She served as a valued volunteer at the local Economy Shop for over ten years. You'd be certain to remember the vitality of her demeanor and the compliment of her trademark red hat. Formerly Margaret Mary Bernadette Ott, she was born and raised in Chicago's South Shore. She was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Aunt Margaret served as an inspiration to those of us who were privileged enough to have grown up in her company during the 1960's and early 1970's. She was a most unique individual. In her early twenties, she was already an independent career woman in an advertising business world dominated by males. Margaret was one of the first female time buyers for television advertising, as an employee of Needham, Harper and Steers. As part of this new industry, she whole-heartedly embraced the new and exciting world of air transportation, having traveled extensively with her good friends during the early days of commercial flight. Later, she was a pioneer in the field of media duplication, having been an entrepreneur and vice president of a company she co-owned, Media International. A most unique individual, she enjoyed a great appreciation for the dramatic and performing arts. A true star within her own right, her performances, whether at family parties or with The Metropolitan Players of Roosevelt University, were always delightfully entertaining and most memorable. The mold was indeed broken, there could never be another. We will miss you, Aunt Margaret, and forever hold you dear to our hearts. She is survived by her loving son, Thomas Lundeen; both beloved brothers, Henry Ott and Thomas Ott; her only grandson, Daniel Diomedes; her dearest cousins, Delia Evans and Edwina Evans: her surviving niece, Elizabeth Tamayo; her grand-nephew, Nino Tamayo; her grand-niece, Christina Tamayo; and by the friends who were graced by her loyalty over the years.
