Marilyn Ver Halen, 86, resident of Jupiter, FL and formerly of River Forest, IL, passed away on February 6th, 2022 after a full and wonderful life. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Richard Ver Halen.
Born in Illinois, Marilyn was the oldest of three daughters and a graduate of Trinity High School. She is survived by her sister JoAnn, her eight children - Mark, Jon, Kirk, Erik, Ben, Lisa, Christian, and Todd, their spouses, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was a dedicated wife and a loving mother. When she wasn't caring for her children she could be found playing tennis, hosting bridge games, or volunteering at the children's hospital. Later in life she traveled the world on bicycling, hiking, and sailing trips.
Marilyn, her husband and family spent summers on Washington Island, WI where they enjoyed sailing and other outdoor activities. The couple retired to Jupiter, FL where they were active residents in the community. Marilyn was a beloved member of her tennis and bocce teams until the age of 85.
She will be remembered for her honesty, warmth, and her adventurous spirit. Marilyn’s presence will be missed by all whose hearts she has touched and her sweet memory will be forever with us until we meet again.
A memorial visitation will be on Thursday February 17th at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 W. Madison Street, Forest Park, IL 60130 from 3pm-7pm.
On Friday February 18th at 10am a Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church at 528 Lathrop Avenue, River Forest, IL 60305. For attendees, a Celebration of Life luncheon will follow at 12 noon nearby.
