Michael Primak, lovingly known as “Jerry,” passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2026, at the age of 84. To those who knew him, Jerry was warm, kind, and fun—a true gentleman.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Roberta (nee Bertolini), and by his children Robert (Sherri), Eileen Powers (Tim), and Brian (Karri), grandchildren Eric (Cassandra), Rebecca (Jarrod), Katie, and Sarah, great-grandchildren Savannah and Noah, his brother, Jim, his late sister, Phyllis and many beloved relatives and friends.
Nothing brought Jerry greater happiness than his family. “Papa”took immense pride in cheering them on, never missing a game, performance, or special moment, and always showing up with unwavering support, encouragement, and love.
Jerry grew up on Division Street in Chicago during the glory days of movie houses, candy stores and soda counters. He was in the U.S. Army. He had a career as a lithographer and was a member of Local 458-3M.
Always more comfortable staying busy than sitting still, Jerry enjoyed working on his home. No project was too big or too small. He was quick to lend a hand to friends and neighbors, and his carefully kept lawn was a thing of legend in the neighborhood. In between tasks he was an enthusiastic sports fan, happy traveler, and loved singing along to the golden oldies. His karaoke skills may have been little known, but they should not go unmentioned.
A visitation will be held at St. Luke Church in River Forest on Saturday, March 28, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to theAlzheimer’s Association in Jerry’s honor.
