Nancy Knight Obituary

Nancy Mable Knight, a beacon of gentleness and generosity whose thoughtful presence uplifted the lives of many, passed away peacefully on January 11th, 2026, in Chicago, IL, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on September 16th, 1935, in the warm community of Dublin, GA, Nancy was the cherished daughter of Jimmy Lee Knight and his wife Emma Stanley, and the beloved sister of the late Betty Knight.

Nancy's formative years in Dublin were shaped by the loving guidance of her grandparents, James (Jim) and Nancy Noble, and the nurturing environment provided by her devoted mother figures, the late Lennie B. Knight/McGirt and Claudia Knight. Her early education at Millville School laid a strong foundation for the remarkable woman she would become, and her graduation in 1954 marked the beginning of an adventurous and fulfilling life.

With dreams extending beyond the familiar landscapes of Georgia, Nancy made the bold move to Chicago, where she would not only build a career but also find a new home. There, she trained to become a skilled stenographer, a profession that would benefit greatly from her innate traits of neatness and cleanliness. Nancy's dedication to her work was matched only by her passion for Chicago's sports teams, whose games brought her joy and excitement.

Nancy's heart was as vast as her love for her city's sports, and she was the embodiment of thoughtfulness and generosity. Her gentle spirit was a comfort to her family, especially her loving aunt, the late Geneva Knight/White, with whom she shared a special bond and many cherished memories.

Though Nancy's professional life was important, it was her personal attributes that truly defined her. Known for her gentle demeanor, she navigated life's challenges with grace and poise. Her thoughtful nature meant that she was always considering the needs and feelings of others before her own. Nancy's generous spirit was evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she cared for her family to the kindness she extended to friends and strangers alike.

As we remember Nancy, we are reminded of the profound impact one individual can have on the world through simple acts of kindness. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the values she held dear. Nancy Mable Knight's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Nancy's departure has left an indelible mark on the lives of her loved ones, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of her company. As we bid farewell to Nancy, we take solace in the memories we shared and the knowledge that her spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
