Owen Kemper Shaker Petrzelka, age 6, of Oak Park (and proud Mann Mustang), died on October 6, 2020 after a heroic six-month battle with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma
(DIPG), a rare and incurable brain tumor. He faced each day with the bravery, calm and mindfulness of a ninja and with an infectious giggle that took over his body and filled a room.
He leaves us with wisdom wise beyond his six years, reminding us to be present, content, make others happy and spread joy, as well as a confirmation that hot dogs are best when grilled and that there is no greater dessert than the s’more.
Owen is the loving son of Adam Petrzelka and Amanda Shaker, protective big brother of Sydney and Wyatt, dear grandson of Anthony and Lucy Shaker and the late Gerald Klonke and the late Patrice ‘Pat’ Klonke, adored cousin of dozens, and loyal buddy to many.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The ChadTough Foundation(www.chadtough.org) would be very much appreciated.
A celebration of Owen’s life will be planned when the virus relents.
