Phyllis Herner (nee Zidron) of Oak Park, IL died peacefully in her home on January 18, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago to Frank and Bernice Zidron on May 22, 1935. She would have turned 90.
She has 4 children Becky Dittmer (Dan), Jeff, Tony (Mary) and Patty Payton (Rick). She is grandmother to 9: Elizabeth, Maranda, Joe, Elle, Tommy, Matthew, John and Amelia; preceded in death by one, Jeffrey. She has 4 great grandchildren.
She is one of 5 sisters, two of which preceded her in death Ann and Louise. The remaining sisters are Ruth and Fran. She is an aunt to 27 nieces and nephews and friend to many.
She earned an Associates Degree in early childhood development; children have always brought her joy and even in her final days she wanted them nearby.
She was our biggest cheerleader, counselor, advisor and more. She taught all of us to live a grateful and loving life and to live in hope. She loved us unconditionally and guided us in learning to do that as well. Her legacy is her family and she will be dearly missed by all and her voice will live on in us guiding us still.
