Robert J. "Bob" Barnett, 73, of Niles, died peacefully on Monday, August 8, after a long illness. Bob is survived by his daughter, Sara Barnett, her fiance, Scott Bruckmann, and his friend and former wife, Mary Carroll. He is also survived by brothers Thomas (Gayle); and Peter; also sisters Mary Anne Regilio, Kathleen Buppert, Marguerite O’Brien (Tom); Sheila Gaskill (Joseph), and many nieces and nephews. Bob was raised by Agnes and Frank Barnett on the Northwest Side of Chicago and graduated from St. Procopius/
IL Benedictine College in 1971. He entered a management training program at Sears Bank, where he was a perfect fit in their Trust Investments Department. He took the Series 7 exam and became a securities trader. He later worked at Weeden and Co., the Northern Trust Bank and Kemper Associates until his retirement. He was an avid reader with a sharp sense of humor and enjoyed following the stock market. He was a devoted father, helping Sara with her education. Bob was a gentle man, loved by many.
Visitation Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 3:00 - 4:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00pm at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home.
