Robert "Bob" Alba Obituary

Robert Allan Alba, known to many as Bob and to those closest to him as Sonny, passed away at home on April 9, 2026, in Forest Park, Illinois.

Born on March 14, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Vernetta. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Constance Craig and Dianne Sutcliffe. He lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady devotion, and deep care for those around him. Those who knew him remember him as resourceful, loving, and a man of few words. He made others feel welcome and supported. He always showed up for his family and friends.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He tinkered with his model railroad and, of course, worked on cars. He could take on a repair project with confidence and a few tools. Handy was not just a word for him; it was practically a family title. If something needed attention, Bob was ready. He had a practical nature and a generous spirit. He was often at his best when helping others.

Bob was a devoted husband to Michele, and together they shared a life built on love, companionship, and enduring commitment. They were married for 54 years, and their lives together began with a blind date over 56 years ago.

He was a proud father to Stephanie Alba-Lundt (Craig), Leslie Alba Penavic (Tin), and George Alba. His children were a source of pride and purpose. He cherished the many moments they shared across the years. He loved them with a steady devotion. Grand speeches were not needed to prove it. His love showed in his presence, his guidance, and the way he listened.

He was also a beloved grandfather to Danielle Alba, Juliette Alba, Ivo Penavic, Adrien Penavic, Edward Alba, and Samantha Penavic. Each of them brought him happiness and a special place in his heart. He leaves behind a family who will remember him with gratitude, affection, and enduring love.

Bob’s memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him. His life was a testament to devotion, humility, and tenderness. He will be remembered with great love by his family and friends.
