Romelle Lucille Louise Weidler (née Faber) entered the Heavenly Kingdom on
June 2nd, 2024, at the age of 88 years in Forest Park, IL. She was born
October 12th, 1935, in Mendota, IL, to Harry and Lillie Pauline (Yost) Faber.
She attended Luther Institute and took secretarial classes as she did not plan
to attend college. After graduating, she was employed by the Illinois Bell
Telephone company for a number of years.
Romelle met Ronald Weidler at a dart ball tournament that their parents had
made them go to, and they were later married on June 2nd, 1956. Throughout
their 46 years of marriage, they were blessed with five children and a multitude
of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronald passed away in April of 2003
at the age of 70. Romelle passed away on what would have been her and
Ronald’s 68th wedding anniversary. She has been taken care of by sons
Christopher and Jason since Ronald’s death, especially these last few months.
She was a member of St John Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years
and sang in the church choir. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting
blankets, stockings, and other things for her family, friends, and church
families. She was also known as the “Block Mom” to many of the neighborhood
kids.
Romelle is preceded in death by her parents, brother Duane, husband Ronald,
and son in law Daniel O’Sullivan. She is survived by son Dennis (Ruth),
daughters Karen (Daniel) and Barbara (Rick), sons Christopher and Jason, 15
grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation 2:00 - 5:00pm Sunday (June 9) at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park and 10:00 - 11:30am Monday (June 10) at St. John Lutheran Church 305 Circle Ave., Forest Park where Service will be held at 11:30am. Interment Concordia Cemetery.
