It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Shirley Robinson, of Oak Park, IL, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, on March 2, 2026. She was 86 years old. Born on July 20, 1939, in Belize, Shirley was the beloved daughter of Ina Broaster, who predeceased her.
Shirley’s life was a testament to the value of service, compassion, and love. As a Nurse's Aide for over 35 years, she dedicated her life to caring for and comforting others, touching countless lives with her unwavering commitment and tender heart. Her laughter, a melody of warmth and joy, resonated in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
In moments of leisure, Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed listening to music and audiobooks, and could often be heard singing her favorite songs in the background. Her voice, whether raised in song or in laughter, was a source of comfort and happiness.
Shirley’s legacy lives on through her seven children: Windmark, Rodney, Bernard, Pamela, Yvette, Anthony, and Wilbon. She is also survived by her siblings, Rudolph, Carol, Christobel, Linda, Wayne, Deborah, and Glenford, along with many grandchildren.
Shirley Robinson will forever be remembered for her caring nature, her enduring laughter, and her unwavering service to others. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear Shirley, knowing you are deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Rush University Medical Center and the Vitas Hospice Care Team for the compassionate care, attentiveness, and support they provided to Shirley in her final days. Special appreciation also goes to the staff at Oak Street Health. They cannot thank you enough for the special care, gentleness, and respect you gave their mom, Shirley, over the years. Your kindness and dedication have touched their hearts, and they will always be grateful to you.
