We are deeply saddened to announce that on April 10, 2025, Thomas Michael Carraher passed away. Thomas, “Tom,” was called home in the early evening, holding his daughters’ hands and surrounded by love.
Tom was born to William and Mary Carraher on August 26, 1963 and raised in Oak Park, Illinois. He attended St. Edmund Catholic School, Oak Park and River Forest High School where he was class president, Triton College, and DePaul University.
Tom absolutely loved living in Oak Park, frequently proclaiming he had “won the location lottery.” This adoration for his community was evident in his youth sports coaching, devotion to Ascension Parish, and 30+ year career as a realtor, predominantly serving the Village of Oak Park.
Tom had a larger than life personality that never wavered. He quietly and courageously battled cancer while fervently continuing his passions of singing on stage, traveling, golfing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Kentucky Wildcats, and spending time with his daughters.
After 61 years of devoting his life to God, Tom was called home to join his loved ones in Heaven: his parents, William and Mary; brother Bill (survived by Donna), and brother/best friend Bob (survived by Joanne).
He is remembered by daughters, Alison and Megan, and their mother Eileen; siblings Maryelizabeth (husband Jim); John (life-partner Shari); Jim (wife Susan); nieces and nephews, Samantha (husband Christopher, children Addison and Brady) and Timothy (husband Patryk); Taylor (husband Pedro, children Camille and Jett) and McKenzie (husband Jeff, children James and Wesley); Colleen, Danny, and Kevin (mother Sheila); Katie (husband John, children Grace, Caroline, and Evan), and Brian (wife Amanda). And partner, Vicki.
There will be a wake at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 Madison Street, Forest Park, IL 60130 on April 24TH, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A Catholic Funeral mass will be held on Friday April 25TH, 2025 at 10am at Ascension Catholic Church, 808 S East Ave, Oak Park, IL 60304.
