Timothy Hugh Muller arrived in this world on December 11, 1942, in
Barberton, Ohio. That was the last time his arrival was planned. Regularly,
this brilliant man would show up to family reunions without a
reservation. He’d meet us at Chautauqua without a reservation. He arrived
at weddings, also without a reservation. Presumably, he left this world
still without a plan.
Throughout his life, Tim volunteered at institutions he loved. He served
on the board of the co-op in West New York, New Jersey, where he lived for
nearly all of his adult life. He gave blood regularly and created the
systems that helped track blood donations in East New Jersey. He was board
president, cleared snow, took down the nets, and ran the New Jersey Tennis
Tournament at the Arlington Players Tennis Club, where he was a longtime
member.
His lack of planning did not extend to his work life. Beginning in the
summers while still at Thiel College, he wrote computer code and designed
and implemented computer systems for PPG Industries, Univac, Chemical
Bank, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Blood Center of New Jersey.
Tim is remembered by those he loved for his t-shirt collection, strong
opinions, sense of humor, love of family and friends, stories, basic
ditziness, and generosity.
He leaves behind friends from Barberton, Ohio; West New York, New Jersey;
and Oak Park, Illinois. He also leaves behind his sister Becky Smith (Bill),
brother Dave Muller (Barb), and sister Sarah Muller (Gary Joseph). He was
predeceased by his parents Carl L. and Ella R. Muller, brother Phil Muller
(Aliceann), and wife E. Dottie Watkins. He was also a favorite uncle to Erin
Smith, Lisa Turfler (Todd), Adelle Muller McKinstry (Matt), Jocelyn Gruepp
Mueller (Guenther), Dave Smith (Sara), Amanda Osta (David), Nate Muller
(Kate), and Ben Newton (Deena Bernett). He is also survived by nineteen
great-nephews and nieces. He will be missed.
Donations in Tim’s name may be directed to the Arlington Players Club,
Washington Pl, Kearny, NJ 07032 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
A memorial is scheduled for November 30, 2024 12:30 - 2:00 PM at
