Vernestra (Verne) Hopkins Mines, 85, of Forest Park, IL, formerly of Chicago passed away on July 21, 2024. Loving mother of Therese (Dallis) Anderson and dear grandmother of Daylan Anderson. Preceded in death by parents Shellie Hopkins and Mittie Hopkins Bass, Harvey Bass Sr. and husband LG Mines.
Verne was born on October 18, 1938, attended Wells High School, Chicago and later earned A.A.S. Degree from Wright Jr. College. Retired as HR Manager from Brad Foote Gear Works, Cicero, IL in 2000 and retired again from Walmart Forest Park IL 2018.
Longtime member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church Chicago IL until it closed and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church Melrose Park IL. Loved to travel, excellent seamstress, created many crafts, especially micro-mitts. A hard-worker, loyal, trustworthy friend with rock solid integrity and punctual.
Verne’s life will be honored with a visitation on Tuesday July 30 from 4 - 6 p.m. and a memorial service from 6 - 7 p.m. at Zimmerman- Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 W. Madison, Forest Park, IL. Interment will take place privately.
